J. Lloyd Morgan goes on to say, “Although this is a far from original idea, I’m amazed how many books, TV shows and movies miss this basic concept. All the explosions, robots, battles, car chases and ninja fights in the world can’t make up for a single compelling character.”

This is so true. When I think of my favorite books and movies and why I love them, it’s always because the characters resonated with me.

  I love this scripture. I need it to remind me that when it seems like the world is ganging up on me and my problems are multiplying that I don’t have to do it alone. All I need to do is turn to Him.

What new thing are you going to learn this year? I’m going to work on learning to enjoy the small moments more–especially those with my kids. I’m continuing to learn about the craft of writing by reading books and attending conferences. And I want to learn more about nutrition and how to keep my family healthy.

Amen to that. Don’t you think this is especially true for parents? Our work is never done, and it’s hard to measure our success, but in the end it’s the effort and the heart that we put into it that matters.

I like this quote–especially at this stage in my life as a stay-at-home mom. There are so many small things I do each day for my kids that seem unimportant, it can be discouraging. But when I stand back and look at the big picture, I can see I’m building something great.
