Review: Living Scriptures

I have become a big fan of streaming services like Netflix and Disney Plus because I like the ability to pick and choose and filter content for my family. So when I was offered the chance to experience the new Living Scriptures app streaming service, I jumped at the chance. I am a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter day Saints and I love learning about Jesus Christ and teaching my family His principles. This service is targeted toward members of my church, but has incredible movies and content that any family would enjoy.

What do I like about Living Scriptures?

#1 best reason–no need to filter anything because all content is family friendly and appropriate for my standards.

I was excited to find all sorts of new movies, cartoons, and in-depth teaching series on the scriptures offered. We love the Come, Follow Me program so it was neat to explore the Line Upon Line series of animated stories featuring Church History and more.

I shared the specific Come Follow Me videos with my family and it was an instant hit. My kids actually asked if we could watch “just one more” and we’ve been watching 2 or 3 before bedtime each night. It’s really fun that the teachings are animated and in an easy to understand teaching style with some fun laughs and also very insightful moments. I love that the videos are short–most of them have been less than 8 minutes. We’re really looking forward to watching more and learning more as a family.

I was thrilled to find oldies, but goodies among the mix of offerings. I grew up on Feature Films for Families VHS movies and my little sister watched the movie, On Our Own, about 1,368 times. 😉 It was so fun to watch this movie with my family and find it still enjoyable and relevant. Although the video quality was poor because the film was from the early 1990s, the story was still powerful and my kids didn’t seem to mind.

This service has a lot more value than I originally thought because there are so many different types of movies available. We can choose a fun family night movie, or we can take 8-15 minutes to learn more about a gospel principle or stories from The Book of Mormon and the Bible. I’m looking forward to watching more and I especially won’t mind if my kids choose this app for their free time.

LIVING SCRIPTURES ANNOUNCES SEASON TWO OF ‘LINE UPON LINE’
-Animated series augments the ‘Come Follow Me’ curriculum –

SALT LAKE CITY, UT – Living Scriptures, the well-known producer and distributor of animated,
scripture-based stories, recently announced its popular animated series ‘Line Upon Line’ is in
production on its second season. ‘Line Upon Line’ was produced a resource for families in
teaching The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints ‘Come Follow Me’ at-home gospel
study curriculum. The Utah Film Commission recently awarded Living Scriptures a Community
Film Incentive Program grant to help support the production.

“We are truly grateful to the Utah Film Commission for their support of our first original
production, ‘Line Upon Line,’” said Matt Brown, CEO of Living Scriptures. “It’s a dream come
true for Living Scriptures to again be producing animation, especially using local artists, here
from Utah. Our state has such amazing artistic talent, and we are thrilled to be growing our
talent locally. Our new and veteran animators and illustrators absolutely love this project, and
assuredly it will continue to be our most watched series.”

Season one of ‘Line Upon Line’ has become the most viewed series on the Living Scriptures
streaming service which has experienced unprecedented growth. Its streaming service has
grown by nearly 60 percent over the past few months and is now available on eight different
streaming devices and services, including Roku, Chromecast, AppleTV, Kindle Fire, FireTV,
Android, and more.

“Now, more than ever, it is crucial to keep our home centered in Jesus Christ,” stated Brown.
“And our mission is to fortify your home in Jesus Christ through fun and uplifting movies and
shows, as well as help people of all ages study and understand the Scriptures.”

Living Scriptures adds new content weekly, including animated scripture stories, Latter-day
Saint produced comedies and dramas, church-produced documentaries, inspirational films,
values-based children’s shows and much more. It currently offers over 1,000 titles, including
family-friendly films, videos and other content – both produced by Living Scriptures and by
other media producers. As part of its mission, Living Scriptures is always searching for
filmmakers to support in producing and marketing family-friendly content.
