Book Thoughts by Rachelle
Today I’d like to share my review on a different sort of book than I usually feature on my blog. I chose to read Angels, Agents of Light, Love, and Power because I’ve been going through some extremely stressful stuff in my life both emotional and physical. I read a little about it and immediately felt tears come to my eyes. I believe that there are angels around us to help us, to guide us, and to remind us of our divine connection to God, but through all of my turmoil, I had forgotten.
This book is an excellent resource citing the presence of angels in both Biblical and Book of Mormon times. It has provided a great comfort to me to know that there are numberless concourses of angels who all praise God and who accompanied our Savior, Jesus Christ during His mortal ministry.
If you have ever wondered about the accounts of angelic visitations in the scriptures and if there are still angels today, Donald Parry’s book provides numerous examples, scripture references, and quotes from the prophets affirming the vital role of angels in the world today as in the past.
Here’s more about the book:
Angels: Agents of Light, Love, and Power is the most thorough book on this vital—but often misunderstood—topic. Brother Parry, who has spoken about angels at BYU Education Week, has painstakingly researched what we can learn from the scriptures and from statements of modern prophets about angels and their missions. Chapters in this book focus on such topics as what angels are, what powers and abilities they are given, how they communicate with mortals (including their interaction with little children), what missions and roles they are assigned, how they restore priesthood and keys, how they reveal truth and teach the doctrines of the gospel, and what their roles will be in the Second Coming and during the Judgment. It includes a discussion of how angels minister to and comfort mortals, and about the role of guardian angels.
